Who better to produce an iconic sports campaign for Carling than photographer Douglas Fisher, renowned for his powerful work for Adidas and Nike and for his masterful work in post-production. Doug was commissioned by Creature London to produce the most recent Hoggy the Hedgehog print campaign for Carling in which Hoggy, Carling’s beloved mascot, takes center stage in a tongue-in-cheek campaign that mimic a sports campaign. The dream of every mascot! The campaign was a pre-season/opening season teaser campaign for Carling in conjunction with UK sports retailer Kitbag.
Doug collaborated with the creative team at the pre-visualization stage, building render concepts that added a sense of “space” and atmosphere and allowed the agency to explore ideas of lighting, pose and positioning.
“The shoot was great fun, if a little messy, with all sorts of effects like flying grass and powder paint used to create the dynamic visual effects in the final image,” added Doug.
The final image was produced by Doug and his team using Maya, Nuke and Photoshop for various parts of the process.
